Arvixe Test Website for the NEW SMGAHILLS Site!

I am developing a new SMGAHILLS website (currently parked here at www.smgahills2.com, hosted by Arvixe).  It will :

  1. offer several new features for the convenience of the officers
  2. be a little cheaper to operate
  3. simplify Officer year-end transition
  4. be easier for me to administer
  5. get it out of my personal account

I am developing it in a series of small steps where I will build a module, we can use the module and see if we like it and if it is worth the effort to build the next module.  The first module (the one currently in test) will feature a more user friendly interface for the Tournament Director to manage the "Are You Signed Up?" pages and Gold Tee Program, and more attractive pages for the user.

If we like this approach, I will slowly add officer modules to greatly simplify the administration of:

  1. Are You Signed Up? (currently in test)
  2. Gold Tee Players (currently in test)
  3. Hole in One Club (in development)
  4. POY Points (concept only)
  5. Tournament Schedule (concept only)
  6. Membership Data (just a vague thought)

Additionally, the website (which uses a database to store member info) has the flexibility to offer a variety of new services such as:

  1. Email an individual with his current data (phone, address, email, birthday, HIOC status, etc.), requesting correction of any errors or new info.
  2. Easy way to send customized reminder emails to those who haven't renewed for the next year.
  3. Ability for the officers to download an Excel spreadsheet of current member data.
  4. A secure repository for member data so it can be accessed by the officers and will greatly simplify officer transition.
  5. A common email addresses data base that can be accessed by the officers.
  6. Perhaps an easier way to administer Match Play

I have implemented the "Are You Signed Up?" page and the "Gold Tee Program".   It is much easier for the Tournament Director to manage, at least I think so.  The Officer's Portal in the above menu currently only links to tools for the Tournament Director to use -- and I am working with Don to get his feedback.  I will expand the concept so that each Officer will have his own tools appropriate for his duties.
